Keep Adobe Flash from closing when switching focus

Posted Sunday, November 25th 2012 in FreeBSD, Linux - Permalink

When using multiple monitors, Adobe Flash will close if the monitor in which it is full-screen loses focus. To fix this, use a hex-editor, such as ghex. Now, find where your instance of Flash is installed:

~> locate libflashplayer.so
/usr/local/lib/npapi/linux-f10-flashplugin/libflashplayer.so

Edit this file with the hex-editor, and change the first occurence of

_NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW

with

_AET_ACTIVE_WINDOW

Restart your browser, and you should now be able to use full-screen Flash and your other monitor at the same time.
